Hey There Coffee Girl

I like coffee, except not when it takes like V8, since ur coffee to-go mug had V8 in it from the day before.  That kinda sucks.  This bug is out.

LadyBug Wants a Pug

Because she needs an unconditional little face.  Who wouldn't love a fat squishy wrinkly face staring up at you in the mornings?  No, I'm not talking about your drunk-one-night-stand-with-the-unemployed-quote-financial-broker-end-quote-from-the-local-pub-who-you-thought-was-24-years-young-until-you-felt-his-breathing-at-6am type of guy.

A pug.  A puggle would do too, but they kind of creep me out.  Like a hybrid human, who would want to see that all the time?

Thank god I'm a lady bug.  No one's been able to hybrid this species with anything else yet.

LadyBug Goes Hiking

I heeded the call of the wild, on an early Sunday morning.  It started out innocently enough.  Upper East Side, parking spot (shocker!), and lots of tea to hydrate.  After boarding the van with like minded individuals, we headed off to the mountains of New Jersey (who knew jersey had mountain ranges?)

Anyway, a short trip and a snack away, we arrive and begin our hike.  A little ways in, I learn that this was a 9 mile hike uphill.  To the top of a mountain.  For some reason, the preliminary 8 mile hike listed online at Outdoor Bound was less threatening, and the pictures of everyone just smiling and jumping around made me confident.  I thought, "I could be them! I could be smiling after hiking 4,973,850 miles.  Yup, that'll be me."

Let me tell you - it was tough.  But, it was worth it.  The leaves in the fall you think are so beautiful?  Yeah they suck when they're on the ground.  I was slipping everywhere like a maniac.  Those yoga classes really made me test my balance.

Now, as a LadyBug I love those leaves - especially eating them!  That's why when we got to our lunch spot, I was well fed.  Hmmm look at that view!

Chief was our chief look out.  While he may be little, he packs a powerful bite.  And doesn't like hummus.  But he does tricks!  I wonder if he liked my summersaults.  I was too tired to wind myself up, and plus, we were on the edge of a cliff so acrobatics probably wouldn't have been the best idea.

And then we continue our ascent.  Check out that steep view!  We were climbing along rocks for recreational purposes, I know.

And we kept losing the group.  It was a beautiful day, so they were overbooked (seriously, 65 degrees in November!?) Our tour guide was trying to rally up the troops with chief.

And then... We almost... We made it!  Check out that view from the top.  Whew!  There were some times I thought one of my 6 legs would trip and I would face-plant.  Well, numerous times.

And then, onto the descent.  These berries looked tasty though.  But, even LadyBugs know they're a no-no.

And that folks, was my rigorous hike.  Back to the city we went.  But here's one last shot for you to admire.

Ahhh... mojitos...

I like mojitos.  Almost as much as I like that red concoction there.  I don't know what it is.  But look how happy I am sandwiched between them?  Yup, it was a good day.

My Body is a Temple, My Body is a Temple...

OUCH! What was that?  A cramp? Ekkkk.  I'm that loser with her arms up in the air in the middle of Central Park.  No, I'm not trying to get a better cell signal.  I'm running 4 miles today.  UPHILL.  Why you ask?  Why, since you are a LadyBug, don't you fly?  And you know what sassy smart guys, I do not know.  I'm doing it for my health.  Literally.

A gorgeous day, I woke up bright and early to discover both my roommates and myself, up and making tea and coffee - at 7:30 am.  On a Saturday morning.  That, my friends, is when I realized I'm all grown up.  And off we went, to our respective jobs and jogs.  Friday nights?  I don't remember what that's like. Maybe when I get that first paycheck, I will celebrate... in a small way.  For now, it's all gravy.

Today is my last free Saturday.  From here on out, I will be working weekends.  In light of this, I'm going to get out of here and get some brunch.  A LadyBug needs a mimosa every now and then.

LadyBug Doesn't Have Health Insurance...

But she got her blood drawn, had to pee in a cup, and was psycho-analyzed.... to make 40 dollars.  In LadyBug terms, that is a pocketful of change.  In the words of my uncle, "She is a girl of many sorts."  Indeed, I am.  Although I still am not sure what that means.

At least there was a cute research guy (wink, wink) who got to ask me my entire life history.  Mostly questions in the realm of if I talk to invisible people... and if they talk back.  Or if I think the TV is talking directly to me.  Or if I thought I was a superhero (that would be sickkk).  Seriously, that would be amazing.  What kind of cool things can a LadyBug get into?  Lots, if you ask me.

Luckily, this LadyBug found out she was not insane, which was a nice little pick me up when life gets you down.  I may have some crazy tendencies (most notably driving to long island to take part in a study that involves having a MRI) but hey, at least I'm not hearing voices!  And that sassy kids, I will leave you to ponder.  Do you hear voices?  If you do, tell them you want to be a superhero.  Word out.

And Another One Bites The Dust

Ah, another interview.  Which I thought went well, which also means dum dum dummmm... the position is on hold.  Much like every other position.  Keep your fingers crossed, this one is a great one.  Nonprofit work, here I come?

LadyBug Does Google

That sounds promiscuous doesn't it?  I just love those Google ads.  It's like they know what I am thinking, all the time!

Wait, they know what I'm typing right?  Total disappointment.

I still want to work for them.  I heard they had massages weekly, in house.  And even afternoon tea?  Sign me up.  They might be short on lady bugs.  Google, I'm available!

A LadyBug, In Training

This running thing swiftly turned from a chore... to a necessary evil... to a welcome relief.  I never thought I'd say this, but this LadyBug prefers running to flying.  Yup, that's right.  I said it.  Never in a million years right?  Don't doubt me folks.

So in light of this, keep my momentum going!  Donate here and make sure I make it to race day.  Without you, I may just cower in my green shell and avoid the snow in central park.  I don't want to run off with all my ladybug friends to brunch and mimoas.  Well, maybe after my run.  And you are more than welcome to join.  I love me some bananas foster pancakes.  And ice cream of course.

http://pages.teamintraining.org/nyc/joekl10k09/chackett

In case you are new to this adventure of yours truly, I am training to run a 10K for Team in Training.  I never ran before in my life - if you don't count trying to catch the bus or stop a parking attendant from writing your car three tickets.

Soy Lattes with LadyBug

Remember my dream of serving fancy no whip, no foam, ultra skinny super large double soy lattes to the luxury starved customer?

Yeah, they're not hiring.  Anywhere.

In my complete desperation, I almost applied to Jamba Juice, but I remembered I might jamba around too much and become traumatized when we cut open the bananas and oranges.  They're alive too, you know.

I'm not a vegan, what I am talking about?  Well, it's back to the drawing board sassy bugs.

LadyBug Goes To The Left, To The Left...

a little to the middle?  to the right?

LadyBug likes to learn.  She likes to learn more than she likes to dance with all 6 of her feet, simultaneously.  She also doesn't understand why she is talking in 3rd person?  Or why banks and libraries are closed on Election Day.  Don't we all need to continue paying you Big Brother AND taking advantage of free internet when we are unemployed?

Regardless, let's hit this one, since it's Election Day and all.  Politics.  After much research and deliberation, I have decided that I am a Democratic Centrist.  First thought I was a Libertarian, but that proved to be a little too right-wing for me.  Either way, I am friends with everyone, regardless of your beliefs.  Hey, I would actually with agree with you on most of what you believe!

In light of that, I have always liked to understand why people stand on certain sides.  I don't care where, I like to have friends from all walks of life.  I'm friends with mammals AND tortoises of course!  As long as you have a strong, independent mind free of all convictions and stereotypes and ingrained beliefs you were taught to trust, I'd honor a fun conversation about it.

Over nachos of course.

And I wouldn't be against you buying me a beer.  Helping out the needy on Election Day is a worthy thing.

Listening to Webinars and Drinking Tea

with LadyBug!  I just came back from a second interview, and now I hear there's a THIRD!  Now, fellow lady bugs, who has THREE interviews for a part-time position?  It leaves me quite bemused with the economy, as a weekend job proves to be more competitive than any high paying corporate job I had in my career.  Hopefully I won't have to wear heels.  I'm quite tall for a lady bug.

So now, I'm listening to a webinar to be a Nutritionist.  I would feel great about this when they get to the price part.   Anyone know anything about Public/Urban Health programs in New York City?

The NYC Marathon and LadyBug!

No, I did not run it.  Me? a LadyBug?  I'd just end up stuck on the Verranzo. Well, I ran it, just did not complete it.  I needed to get to the other side (insert chicken joke here) and the cops literally told me - just run with them and bolt!  It was worse than trying to merge onto the Cross Bronx Expressway at rush hour.  I almost crashed into the folks handing out gatorade, thinking I was a runner.  What, did the LadyBug shell not give it away?  Or the fact that I was holding a purse and wearing high heeled boots.  You decide.

My favorite Cuban Cigarette and I had brunch in Long Island City, watching the runners.  Not to get all sappy on you sassy bugs, but it truly was an emotional sight to see.  You can feel the energy, the excitement.  I could not help but smile after exciting the 7 train, just following the noise to Vernon Blvd.

It was the half way point, and these runners needed some motivation.  So after brunch, and after the hard-core runners passed through (and the runners running into the restaurant knocking over tables to get to the bathrooms) we stood outside and cheered them on - to the very last person.  We even saw the "sweep bus" go by.  We saw an older man with - what was it? - his 119th marathon?  God knows.  It was amazing, and these are the people who needed the cheering.  And they loved every second of it.

Look at me with the ING sunglasses on.  Don't I look hip?  That's an apple next to me.  That'll be my dinner for the next two weeks, its a chemically imbalanced apple so its extra large.

LadyBug Dances to Lady Gaga

I just had to do it.

Well, I did have a point.  Halloween.  I was in Brooklyn roaming around with Lady Gaga, among others, most notably, someone with a gun as a leg.  I had a needle in my chest and ruby red lipstick.  10 points if you know who I was...

10 points will be served to you in the form of leaves, because that is the only cash I have at the moment, and since I'm a ladybug I subsist on them.  They're like gold in my parts.

Thank G-Dog for the fact that beer was 3 dollars.  That was fabulous.  I love Brooklyn.

LadyBug Does a Model Shoot

Look at me enjoying that gorgeous view.  Isn't it just stately?  Took my breath away.  Well, also because I was so close to the edge that a yippy little dog barked and almost sent me over.  Dogs don't like me.  I guess because they have trouble figuring out what in the world I am, what with my summersaults and all.  I am still figuring that one out as well!

Weeee! Look at me! Look at me!  I'm straddling the edge! Woooo weeee!  I am an adventurous beetle, aren't i?

I want to walk on the nose.  Take me to the nose.

I'm in a tree!  And I climbed it by myself.  I'm actually pretty high up.  Look at me just relaxing.  I look so cute, don't I?  Fresh air, crunchy leaves.   All I need is some hot apple cider.  I don't want the fall to end.  And I didn't even need a jacket!  Just you wait 'til you see me frolicking around in the snow with a beenie.

Bug-O-Ladies

Ah, pumpkins, apple donuts, cider... and more pumpkins.  Never the one to not be spontaneous, my friend and I drove over to see the Great Jack-O-Lantern Blaze, a sold out show the night before Halloween.  Flashing our big smiles, we got a free ticket from the parking attendant.  Then, we just strolled up and bought another ticket. Who says these things don't happen?

Look at me sitting utop a pumpkin.  I was just all smiles.  Who doesn't love a good jack-o-latern for halloween?

Confused as to what this "Blaze" is all about?  Fear not fellow readers. Over 4,000 pumpkins were lit up on this historical estate in Croton.  Hear how the blaze is created!

Ooooh.  Ahhhh.  I liked this pumpkin.  Whoever carved it was mad chill.  He's rocking those 80's "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" shades.

Check out the aliens!  This was probably my favorite.  They had the spooky techno-ish music going too. I wish I could have shown you my face.  But, you know what I look like!

All in all, a good night for ladybugs.  Beautiful weather and had a pumpkin spiced (not spiked!) coffee.  Yum.

The Many Travels of LadyBug

I haven't been on too many adventures lately.  Which is shocking for me, because I am always going somewhere.  Who knew this economy would stifle these world dreams?  Nothing stopped me before.  I came from very humble beginnings, but thought I could do anything.  Who teaches kids that?  Actually, where we were - we were never taught it.  Maybe that's why I wanted it so bad!

When I miss running around the world like I once did, I sit on top of a map.  I spin around like mad, flipping, running, landing on the next destination.  My dream destinations are anything but ordinary.  Thailand, Africa, Alaska, Argentina, Croatia, Iceland.  I want to run a half marathon in Hawaii, if I can make it past this 10k.   I did pretty well when i ran from China to California... on the extra large world map in the library.

I want to go to Italy, mainly because I took 12 years of Italian.  I need to take advantage of my 5 catch phrases, before they turn into one.  Hey, maybe there's an app for that.

Longest Night

Do you ever find yourself playing the same song over and over to keep a certain emotion going?  That if you stop playing it, the feeling would dissipate through the speakers and you will never be able to regain it?

Nope, me either.

Living the LadyBug Years

How long do lady bugs really live?  All we know is learned science, which is amazing and groundbreaking and shocking.  I don't see too many lady bug neurosurgeons.  We leave that strictly to the humans - and maybe a few orangutans.

But do we have an idea of how long anything is supposed to live?  Lets just say that I only have a few weeks or months to live, before someone steps on me or whacks me with a windshield wiper.  But people?  They have a million breaths they need to take, before they are considered to have had a long life.  How short is too short, how long is long enough?

I think about a certain brown eyed kid, who I know loved lady bugs.  Lady bugs, spiders, fireflies.  He loved animals of all kinds - even my predators!  But he was amazing and creative and beautiful.  And I watched him grow, from apple juice bottles to Toy Story to shaggy hair.  But one night, his breaths stopped.  Shallowly, slowly, mercilessly.

It comes as a surprise, a shock to the nervous system.  For one millisecond, you feel exactly what he felt.  Flashes.  Your heart stopping.  But it passes, as other emotions sweep over you, through your blood.  You feel them changing, evaporating, moving, adapting.  Eventually, you realize you are still living.  You are still feeling, you are still breathing.  And you need to appreciate all of it - for him.

He was 15 years old and I can't stop thinking about the mark he left.  So maybe that is long enough.  In LadyBug years, well that's an eternity.

Puppies Love LadyBugs

I always start the day with a to-do list.  If i actually complete it, is another story.  Today, not looking like I will come anywhere close.

I got a shiny new library card today!  I was way too excited.  But that went away when I went to my car, and found a $65 parking ticket.  Those Yonkers cops are merciless.  2 parking tickets in 14 hours.  Feels like I support the entire New York City Finance department, and I already paid for two salaries of Yonkers teachers. But, I got a tasty coffee from McDs, which was surprisingly tasty.  Very tasty.  Look at me hanging out at the library.  I was so happy after having that tasty McCafe.  Do people actually call them that?

Later, I hung out with Sophie, who was scared of me at first.  I know I look intimating, but look at that face!  I bet you'd warm up to me real fast too.  Although when I did that summersault, Sophie didn't know if I was coming or going.  She didn't seem to like my aerobic tricks.  But it took a lot of practice!  Oh, did I fail to mention I'm a windup lady bug?

Kicking and Punching

"So, what do you do all day?"

I may need to reiterate a previous post where I smack people with stainless steel saucepans.

It's enough to make me stay home and avoid social situations, social situations which I love.

Nah, they can shove it.

Philthy LadyBugs

Who doesn't love that this series consists of some of the most passionate fans, two of the closest cities on the east coast, with two of the most distinctly different accents.  I made that three state trip many, many times... kind of far for a ladybug, but shuffling my life back and forth via a '95 Toyota Corolla at 2am numerous times proved to be eventful.

And who else notices the red and blue... pretty interesting if you ask me!  I'm green, so what do I know?

Anyway, last night went to watch the game with some old coworkers.  I wasn't able to get a good shot of me with my light drink of choice, because the bar was so packed I was worried someone would step on me - or the bartender would pour a grape bomb shot concoction on my antennas.  And we know once LadyBugs antennas are drenched in a vodka swirl surprise, she wouldn't know how to flutter correctly.

But my favorite cuban cigar took lots of shots last night... digital and liquid.  She's a riot.

XM Radio and LadyBug

Just needed to share with you fellow sassy beetles, that XM radio has gotten me through some rough patches this year, as this year has been the most challenging yet.

As such, I called to cancel, and sensing my immediate stress of the fact that I am unable to make the rent, gave me 6 months free.

This is a plug to you: XM/Sirius Radio.  You improved my world, when everyone else seemed to let me down.

Just don't take away "The Spectrum," like you did "Lucy."  I loved those peanuts characters as stations.  You're almost as creative as me.

Thoughts, by LadyBug

Libraries are probably the greatest benefit of a heavily taxed country, but the most underused.  It's a wonderful system.  Free internet, newspapers, magazines, random books from any era and my personal favorite - atlases.  This wonderful system is used mainly by those who are unemployed or in school... basically the ones who aren't paying taxes at the moment.

Thanks guys for letting me have a place to go all day.  Maybe one day soon I will join you in the ranks of society once again.

And never step foot into a library again.

Ah, the paradox of society.  Now, this LadyBug needs some shut eye.  Or is it just hiding in my shell?   No, thats turtles.

LadyBug Gets Locked Out

of her car while attempting to steal the internet at Manhattan College.  I ask you this dear readers, who leaves their keys DIRECTLY on the seat?  Bugs do, because their pockets are too small to hold a key ring with a bottle opener from Paris on it.  It was my only souvenir from France.  Hey, I was broke.  I lost 20 pounds there.  For a lady bug, that's A LOT.

But look at me enjoying the view in Riverdale.  Why not have a little fun while soul searching and applying like a madbug?  I look quite relaxed, I think.  I was probably thinking about moving to northern California and living on a winery.  I tend to think these things when I am stuck in the bronx with my keys on the drivers seat.

After AAA came to bail me out of my cold-induced caffeine crash, I went to Dunkin Donuts for a little pick me up.  After getting a pumpkin latte, I was disappointed.  Who knew they weren't tasty like Starbucks?  In light of that, I sped to Starbucks to finally apply to my dream job, serving soy lattes to a luxury starved customer.  I hope they call me.  It's like waiting for that call on Tuesday after a Saturday night.  Or rather, dreading that call on Tuesday after a Saturday night.

I'm looking forward to Vinyasa tonight.  What i'm not looking forward to, is the amount of people tonight.  This is Scarsdale, and there are a ton of stay at home moms rocking sick yoga gear.  They're not like the rest of us beetles.  But that's ok, I know how to do a killer baby cobra, and i'm a LADYBUG.  Yeah, that's right.

Interviews all week fellow sassy bugs.  I have to make sure my green shell looks extra sparkly this week.

Martinis, Chocolate... and Cheeseburgers

Heartbroken LadyBug needed good friends, juicy cheeseburgers, and fancy martinis to lift her spirits.  And she got just that.

Ok, ok. I was doing really well. Eating light, healthy - feeling good. I haven't been out in a while - and I needed it! I got all gussied up in my fancy italian boots and sassy sweater. Was the perfect ending to a hard day. Us LadyBugs need some comfort every once in a while. Look at how happy I am next to a "chocolate ecstasy" martini. It might be a bit blurry, well, because... No folks, I was good. No bingeing on my watch.

And they served chocolate covered potato chips.  No joke.  It was amazing.

LadyBug Rocks Interviews

Keep your fingers crossed... I hope I get this gig.  Turns out they like lady bug stories.  Because get this, one of the interview questions, was to make up a story.  Yes, you heard me.  How great is that question?  And it's a job - at a museum.  In honor of LadyBug, I put her on the pedestal - and created a children's story.  I told it with such great enthusiasm and energy, he thought I had told this story before.  But no, I am just desperate for this job.

LadyBug, in New York City.

Once upon a time, in New York City, there lived a LadyBug.  She only knew turtles and woodchucks, but not ladybugs.  Finally, she decided to go to school.  Once there, she realized - wow!  All the other ladybugs are red!  But alas, I am green.

They tried to help her.  "Go in the ocean LadyBug.  That will turn your shell red like ours."

So off LadyBug went.  She hopped on the A train and took it to the end.  She walked all the way to the shore of the Rockaways.  It was the middle of February.  She jumped in.  "So cold!"  she exclaimed.

She was rolling around in the sand, trying to get her wings free from the surf.  Confident, she strolled back uptown, returning to school.

"You are still green LadyBug!  What you need to do, is go in the river, not the ocean!"  Disappointed, but not deterred, LadyBug walked east.  She walked all the way east, and jumped in the east river.  She couldn't make it all the way across.  So many boats, helicopters, ships, sailing crews.  She got scared.  Finally, she reached Roosevelt Island.  Thrilled, she hopped on the tram back to Manhattan.  Once back up at school, the other beetles looked at her with a smirk.  Still green, she thought.

"No, no, LadyBug.  You are doing this ALL wrong.  You need to jump from the sky!"

LadyBug was about to give up.  But, seeing as though she really wanted new ladybug friends, she prevailed.

So up she went.  Sitting in the cabin with a parachute pack strapped to her back, she was not scared.  I will turn red! she thought.  And out she jumped!  She passed the Chrysler building, Grand Central Terminal, even saw red lights atop the Empire State Building!

But the ground was getting closer and closer.  The green spots were becoming less like dots on the ground, and more like branches and roots and sharp leaves.  She tumbled into a bush.  Climbing out the side, she marched triumphantly back to school.

There were men painting a fire truck.  Feeling invisible, she walked right above the truck, falling into a bucket.  How would she get out?  Finally one of the men took out a paint brush, and out she fell.  When she reached school, everyone was clapping.  "She is red!"  They proclaimed.

They played and played, until a big storm hit.  The rain pounded the pavement, with the ladybugs taking shelter under maple leaves.  The red paint streamed off LadyBugs shell.  Everyone saw the look in LadyBugs face as her red shell disappeared down 234th Street.  They became friends with her.  They realized that they liked her for being green, not red.  So when the sky let up, they continued to play, happier than they were before.  And LadyBug, happy she was green the whole time.

And they all lived happily ever after.

I hope it got me the job.

LadyBug Walks for Diabetes

Who doesn't love walking for a good cause?  I wanted to donate as much money as I can to a cause I am so deeply involved in, so I had to charge it.  Why not?  It's better that that money is there, as opposed to on sale scarves at Banana Republic.  Hm, I haven't been there lately...

Look how happy I am hanging out in the high school field.  There was a DJ playing really loud pop music, at noon.  I did not mind, I was walking around like a pig in mud - there really was a lot of mud.

Anyway, it was a wonderful day.  Good friends and good conversation.  Thats the way a LadyBug should spend a Sunday.  4 miles through White Plains.  Apples, coffee, and yoga followed... before stopping at mama ladybugs place of residence.  Whenever I go there, I get unlimited frozen yogurt - and cable TV.  I haven't had cable TV... in a long time.  LadyBug spends a lot of time outside.  But I cannot tear myself away from the food network and animal planet.  Seriously, is a LadyBug allowed to have a crush on penguins?  Because the penguin show had some cool, smooth looking penguins.  They look like they have it all together.  Lady bugs on the other hand, cant even fly in a straight line - or 4 feet off the ground.  Seriously - watch them sometime.

LadyBug Reads The Times... So You Don't Have To.

Yes, I know baseball is exciting right now.  And the Yankees are coming back to the Bronx.

Traffic home? check.  Crowded 4 trains? check.  Exciting atmosphere? check. Street hagglers selling 5 dollar Jeter shirts? check.

But please stop updating your Facebook statuses with play by plays.  I'm sure the entire metro area is watching.

Thanks.  Stay sassy bug-a-boos.

LadyBug Runs in the Rain

I am training for a 10K!  For someone who has trouble running (or flying!) a mile, this is a big step for me.  In just over  6 weeks, I will be running 6.2 miles in Central Park, hopefully without passing out.

I am running with Team in Training for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 823,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers.   I am hoping that my participation in Team In Training will help bring them hope and support.

This morning I met my trainers, coaches, mentors and fellow new runners.  It was so inspiring to see the entire park preparing for the NYC marathon next month.  We were all out despite the rain, and got to enjoy the beautiful foliage.  Us ladybugs love to run in the leaves.  Especially the crunchy ones!

Check out my site for information and how to donate!  Help me cross that finish line, it'll be a tough one but with your support I know I can make it.  Check my progress and donate here!

Now, how to get these practices NOT so early in the morning is another battle.

LadyBug Makes Guac

....amole.  I always have so much fun smashing up the avocados.  Sometimes I just want to jump around and relax in it like a mud bath!

But then i'd smell like onions.

Seagull and I made it with two avocados, one small tomato, 1/4 of an onion, a drop of olive oil, and a spattering of salt and pepper.  We also had tahini hummus!  And wine of course.

Soo good.

Thoughts, by LadyBug

There are two types of people in this world: the employed, and the unemployed.

The employed only become annoying when you become unemployed. They are always rushing. I have come to hate the gym after 5pm and on weekends. I like the emptiness of stay at home moms, old men, and college students home on breaks. I've seen the unemployed for a year.

And you know what? I don't really like it anymore.

So the difference you ask? Nothing. I'm just tired of being unemployed. I want to buy a beer with actual cash.

LadyBug Gets Some Work Done...

no, not THAT kind of work!  I think i'm beautiful thank you very much! No plastic here... although I wouldn't mind getting rid of some of my spots.  I mean, the more you have, the older you are!  Us LadyBugs have our ages written all over us.  Like trees.  But trees have to die before you really know how old they are.  And they grow old much more gracefully.  I wish I were a tree.  Although they don't have much protection in the winter and all.  And I'd DEFINITELY not want to be a tree in California.  They just burn to the ground.  Look at me getting off topic!

Anyway, check out the view from my apartment.  Nice huh?

Today I did some strength training at the gym.  Big day tomorrow, don't want to spoil the surprise, so you will hear all the details then!  LadyBug is making big changes folks, big changes.

I am reading a new book, How Starbucks Saved My Life, by Michael Gates Gill.  Good type of book to read in this economy, although i'm upset that he stole my idea of working at Starbucks.  I always still have my business plan for a new cafe stored away on my computer.  Who wouldn't love to see a LadyBug serve up loose leaf teas?  I know I would.  Damn!  I wasn't supposed to give that away either.  I guess i'm not good with secrets after all.

So here I am in the Ossining Public Library.  Let me tell you.  These Westchester folks really have nice libraries.  And couches!  Look at me enjoying the view from a lovely armchair.  I look quite studious, no?

Tonight I am going to cook up a nice healthy dinner with Seagull again.  Chicken sauteed with squash, red and green peppers, and spinach.  Along with some wine... yum! We rented some foreign movies too.  There was another networking event I was going to attend tonight, but tomorrow morning I need to be on my A-game.  Gonna play it low key tonight.  I'm nervous!

Also, in other updates, I have a job interview on Monday!  Yay!  Time to to break out the suit and tie!  (Or just suit and heels)  I will keep you updated....

Stay sassy fellow ladybugs.

LadyBug Meets.... Another Lady Bug?

I saw a lady bug crawling across my windshield on I-95!

Good luck perhaps?  Or maybe it was my cousin who I borrowed 5 bucks from and never returned.  I don't know if you know this, but lady bug families are the biggest mobs around.  Watch out when you see them. They are out collecting debts.

LadyBug Answers Your Questions

Sometimes LadyBug is asked, "What do you do?"

She answers, "I do whatever it takes."

Then she hits them on the side of the head with a stainless steel saucepan (because I like my nonstick teflon pans and couldn't bear rewashing them and taking a day off their life span).

But in reality, her roommate tells them she's an astronaut.  That usually gets them to stop asking.

LadyBug Loves the Fall

I had a good day today.  First, I got my appetite back (yes, I know I already love ice cream). B, I got to play in the leaves, my favorite activity.  Look at me frolicking around.

And lastly, I spent time with some old friends. See me and that seagull? He may act like he doesn't know me, but he is just camera shy. But look at me! I just look so happy, don't i? I think so.

This is me climbing down from my soapbox. It took me some time. Those yoga classes must be a hoax.

So anyway, back to food. Seagull and I ate a wonderful lunch today after we watched the tide of the Hudson River. We had fresh, organic raisin bread with cream cheese and wild berry preserves. Washed it down with warm citrus green tea and shared one of the biggest apples i've ever seen. Seriously, it was a big apple. I'm into apples these days. AND i got to have it with peanut butter! I'm happy I have a bit of an appetite again. Life isn't so bad. Food tastes good. Seagull was happy too.

Tonight I went to yet another seminar.  This time in Stamford. Not so bad, but just advice I already knew. Don't be hopeless, but don't have too much hope.  Things are not looking good for you.  Thanks guys. I'll keep that in mind.  Definitely went and got a beer after that.  Oh, in addition to the last minute designer heels I had to pick up on the way there after I realized I left the house in flip flops.

But I did get to have one of those mini weenies!  Those are good.

Heartbroken LadyBug

I know, i know. Too soon to get all dramatic on you guys. But I cannot hide it any longer! LadyBug is, most definitely, heartbroken. I know you want to tell me there are other bugs in the sky, but I cannot heed your advice right now.

I haven't caved to the calling of Breyer's until now. Mmmmmmmm chocolate chip.... creamy... all natural...

Tonight i'm joining ice cream anyonmous.

But first, i'm going to yoga and to sit in the park... wallowing perhaps?

I don't want ice cream anymore.

LadyBug Waits By The Phone

.... don't you just hate that feeling? I know I sure do. Plus, this BlackBerry is larger than me. I'd have to use my superpowers to even answer the damn thing. Although I would normally EAT blackberries... or would i? hmmmm

I hate waiting by the phone.

Lattes and LadyBug

Ok first, I was in the New York Public Library in Kips Bay, but the guy next to me kept falling asleep and drooling, and eventually unplugged my laptop by waking himself up frantically, mumbling something about cheeseburgers and highlighters. Then I was reprimanded by the big security guard for eating an apple. So, I figured my time was up. I am attempting to further my career aspirations while at Starbucks instead.

It is an unseasonably warm day in New York. As such, I wore my cute little sandals, trying to get one last wear out of them before I have to stash them away for the winter. But, they are digging into my feet and i am walking everywhere, trying to avoid the subway fare. Maybe my 6 legs will become super cute now. So anyway, I am sitting in the 32nd and 2nd branch of Starbucks, trying to sell myself, one cover letter at a time. Stealing the internet proved to be a tough one, I gave in and spent the insanely large amount just to log onto gmail and send letters to the employed who have no interest in hiring people whatsoever.

I am tempted to just hop behind the counter and start serving up fancy soy lattes for tips. Then maybe I'll go from Cinderella (as a bug of course) scrubbing toilets to saving the world one cause at a time.

Evenings with LadyBug

Today I went to a seminar to further my exploration of career paths. What a waste of time. All i kept thinking about was ice cream. As a result, I skipped out on the poor guy. Which was good, because I got to read the paper on some steps outside Grand Central Terminal. Look at me becoming informed with the world. Don't I look cute? I think I looked especially good today. I was hoping to lock eyes with some of the other beetles on my 12 block walk back to the train. Those suckers were a disappointment. But alas, it was a wonderful fall evening. Us ladybugs usually hate the cold, but I'm a bitter lady. I love me some New York City winter.

I just realized I didn't formally introduce myself. Nah.... you will get to know me.
